Mexican authorities are ramping up security at a Nuevo Laredo prison after a riot that killed six inmates. 50 other prisoners escaped. Many of them were serving sentences for drug trafficking and gang charges. Five guards reportedly joined the convicts. Local media said the inmates were able to overpower guards on Friday morning during a riot. Mexico's prison system is rife with corruption and poor conditions, despite President Felipe Calderon's pledge to clean house. Jessica Gray, Reuters
