Amateur video out of Syria shows gunfire on the streets of a suburb of Damascus. The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters was purportedly shot Friday. The footage appears to show Syrian security forces opening fire on anti-Assad protesters in the Damascus suburb of Douma. Syria has expelled foreign media, making it hard to verify accounts from other activists or the government. Rights groups say about 2,000 civilians have been killed since the uprisings began in March. On Saturday the European Union imposed a ban on Syrian oil purchases and warned of further steps unless President Bashar al-Assad's government ends its five month crackdown on dissent. The sanctions mark the first time Europe has targeted Syrian industry in a bid to stem the violence, which claimed another four lives on Saturday and has so far killed more than 2,200 people, according to the United Nations.
