Nov. 28 - Thousands of zombies come back from the dead to take part in an annual march through Mexico City in a Guinness World Record attempt. Tara Cleary reports.
Thousands of zombies invade the streets of Mexico City. The ghoulish creatures of the living dead crawled from their holes to take part in the fifth Zombie Walk. And organizer Chumoy says the gathering was not only about blood and guts. SOUNDBITE: Zombie Walk organizer, Chumoy, saying (Spanish): "We are here to infect everyone in Mexico City and to break the Guinness record." The march was also an opportunity to collect canned goods for a Christmas food drive. And for the afflicted participants, it was a way to relieve ghastly stress. SOUNDBITE: Zombie Walk participant, Jesus Escalona, saying (Spanish): "We have a social and political situation and so this is a way to liberate (ourselves) from stress and pressure in our country. I think this is the success of the Zombie Walk." The record for the most zombies gathered in one place is currently held by New Jersey, with a little over 4,000. But with an estimated 9,000 zombies emerging here, Mexico City is set to slay that record. Tara Cleary, Reuters.
