Oct. 12 - Rebels say they captured a Syrian army missile brigade near Aleppo as fighting continues across the country. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
Syrian rebels appear to capture an air defense base east of Aleppo Friday as government forces battle insurgents on several fronts across the country. Amateur video which could not be independently verified by Reuters appears to show the aftermath of a base seized by rebels. Inside Syria's largest city street fighting continues as rebels and government forces fight for control. Fighting has spilled over the borders into Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, raising concern that the conflict could spread across the region. The UN says more than 30,000 people have been killed in the conflict which began as a popular uprising last March that has descended into civil war. On Friday more footage shows people taking to the streets calling for an end to President Bashar-al Assad's regime.
