Jan. 13 - Syrian government forces respond with massive air strikes to counter a rebel push to the east of the capital Damascus. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
Government forces strike just outside Damascus killing at least 26 people in a bombing campaign targeting rebel forces. Activists say at least half of those killed were children. The video, which could not be independently verified by Reuters comes as Russia is calling on the opposition to propose its own ideas for talks with President Bashar al-Assad. More footage shows street fighting in the southern part of the country. The UN says at least 60,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising began in March 2011. World powers are still divided over how to stop the bloodshed.
