Day one of the politically charged trial of former Chinese politician Bo Xilai is underway and officials say everything is going as planned. During a mid day recess, one court official discussed the morning session. (SOUNDBITE) (Mandarin) SPOKESMAN OF JINAN INTERMEDIATE PEOPLE'S COURT, LIU YANJIE SAYING: ''The defendant Bo Xilai was emotionally stable and physically healthy during the trial. The court session proceeded in an orderly fashion. The court hearing was conducted based on the principles of judicial openness and everybody being treated equally before the law, and strictly following legal procedures.'' The defendant, 64-year old Bo Xilai has been charged with bribery, corruption, and abuse of power. He is expected to be found guilty. The abuse of power charges relate to the murder of British businessman Neil Heywood - for which Bo's wife has already been convicted. Although Bo still maintains modest popularity for his leftist views, some residents say he should be jailed. I think it's all a power struggle, this man said. It may be good for China to put him away. Bo is expected to be sentenced early next month and could face the death penalty.
