March 8 - Amateur video purports to show fighting between Syrian government forces and rebels. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) A video said to be shot in Aleppo, and another one in rural Hama on Saturday (March 8) appears to show intense fighting between Syrian rebels and government forces. The bombardment of rebel-held Yabroud town near Damascus, which was under assault by Assad forces last month, continued on Friday (March 7), further unverified social media purports to show. Reuters is unable to independently verify the content of these video clips, which have been obtained from a social media website. Syria's conflict has raged on despite peace talks that began in Geneva last month and the passage of the U.N. resolution, a rare moment of unity between the West and Russia, one of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's strongest backer. The Syrian government and the opposition have accused each other of using chemical weapons, banned under international law, and both have denied it. More than 130,000 people have been killed in Syria's three-year-old civil war.
