He's one of children's literature's most beloved bears, and the new film of Michael Bond's Paddington had its world premiere in London on Sunday 23rd November in a rain-soaked Leicester Square. Hollywood star Nicole Kidman plays the villain of the piece -- a psychotic taxidermist, who's determined to have the cute brown bear stuffed. She said signing up was easy as she loved the Paddington stories as a child growing up in Australia SOUNDBITE, Nicole Kidman, saying (English): "In Australia you know it's a big part of the I suppose children's books and I was a huge reader. I was raised on Roald Dahl but I was also raised on Paddington Bear," Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville plays Mr Brown, the head of the family that takes Paddington under their wing when he arrives in London from Peru. SOUNDBITE, Hugh Bonneville, saying (English) "He's a bear who, he's a character who always resets the dial to positive. Whatever goes wrong he's always got a positive outlook on the world. He's always polite, none of his scrapes are malicious in intent. And he wants to see the best in everything." The film, which has attracted largely positive reviews, opens in the UK just in time for Christmas on November 28th.
