Protesters disrupting a Senate hearing get an earful from Senator John McCain who called them ''low-life scum'' before they were dragged away by U.S. Capitol Police. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. Senator John McCain slammed snapped at Code Pink protesters on Thursday (January 29) who interrupted the start of a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee, at which former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was due to testify. Protesters called Kissinger a "war criminal" and decried his role in the White House of U.S President Richard Nixon during the Vietman War. Senator McCain, the committee chairman, stewed in his seat while waiting for the police to remove the protesters. Finally, the Code Pink members were removed but, even as they collected their belongings from their seats, some did not resist a few more barbs at Kissinger. "Get out of here, you low-life scum!" McCain growled before apologizing profusely to Kissinger.
