Amateur video shows aid distribution for Yarmouk camp, in the aftermath of the latest tug of war for control of the Palestinian refugee camp in Syria. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
Aid makes its way to the Yarmouk refugees, recently displaced from their camp near Damascus. The video which can not be independently verified, appears to show people receiving help from Red Crescent staff. Footage purportedly from inside Yarmouk shows shattered streets -- with few signs of life. The sprawling Yarmouk camp was once home to some 160,000 Palestinians before the Syrian conflict began in 2011. After the latest round of attacks by Islamic State, that number is now closer to 18,000. Scores have been wounded in the tug of war for Yarmouk -- with rights groups saying Islamic State controls 90 percent of the camp -- and now the Islamic militants have a foothold just steps away from President Bashar al-Assad's seat of power.
