Hollywood star Rob Lowe plays a rebellious priest in the new British TV comedy drama 'Apocalypse Slough'. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Hollywood star Rob Lowe will play 'the Vatican's most rebellious priest' in the new British TV comedy drama 'Apocalypse Slough' that is set for release in the autumn 2015. The new Sky1 TV drama tells a story of the last days of mankind as a comet is heading for an unavoidable collision with earth. The production fuses action, adventure, romance and comedy. Lowe, who is playing a priest, alongside American actress Jenna Fischer and British actor Mathew Baynton, said the show was a great mixture of both quirky and weird. "I've never seen anything like this because of the tone. It's not armageddon, you know, it's also not a comedy, you know, it isn't a comedy. Although some people have you believe it is, it's not. What it is is what I have always loved which is a real, interesting, unique mixture of both. It's quirky, it's weird, really weird, it's really serious and it's really funny," Lowe said. The story follows a group of characters from across the world who appear to have very little connection to each other until their lives start to intersect in ways they could never have imagined. Lowe, who has played a whole range of characters from politicians to doctors and lawyers during his career, said that portraying a vicious priest was an interesting experience which was in part influenced by his personal experiences. The series is still in production stage and is scheduled to be released later this year.
