Italy holds an inter-faith funeral service for 13 migrants who died in the worst Mediterranean shipwreck in recent history. Deborah Gembara reports.
A funeral for 13 of the migrants killed in the worst shipwreck in the Mediterranean, in recent memory. Leaders from different Sicilian faith communities presided over the service. Those laid to rest on Tuesday were among the first victims recovered from the site where more than 700 people perished in April. Many who died were passengers on an overloaded fishing boat, which capsized after colliding with a ship that had come their aid. The Italian navy has been working with remote controlled vehicles to recover more bodies from site, which is 1,200 feet below the surface.
