Well-wishers gathered near Philadelphia's airport to catch a final glimpse of Pope Francis before the pontiff ended his historic U.S. visit and headed back to Rome on Sunday (September 27).
Fans from around the world packed into Philadelphia on Sunday for a huge open-air mass, where they sang, strained to take photos and passed him babies to bless.
During his visit, the pope waded into some of the country's thorniest political debates, including immigration, climate change and the sexual abuse scandal that has roiled the Catholic church.
Hundreds of thousands of people turned out to see the Pope during his six-day visit which included a parade, stops at charities, a prison, and a historic address before both houses of Congress.
