The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge meet Chinese President Xi to celebrate cultural ties. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Chinese President Xi Jinping was treated to more star royal power on day two of his state visit to Britain when he met with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on Wednesday. Prince William and Kate showed Xi and his wife Madame Peng Liyuan around Lancaster House and an exhibition celebrating cultural collaborations between China and the UK. The Duke showed Xi a new hybrid black cab. The vehicle by the London Taxi Company, which is Chinese-owned, switches over to petrol when the battery runs out. Also on display were an Aston Martin and a London red bus with the same technology. Earlier this week, on Monday, the day Xi arrived in the UK, the Duke recorded a speech on the illegal ivory trade to be shown on Chinese state television. During his visit to China earlier this year, Prince William raised the issue with Xi when they met in Beijing. Xi is on a four-day state visit to the UK. His attention will turn to business deals later on Wednesday as he attends meetings with Cameron and other officials at Downing Street.
