Fighting between Houthi-led forces and government loyalist fighters showed no sign of abating in Yemen's third largest city of Taiz. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
Warfare on the streets of Taiz -- Yemen's third largest city. Fighters loyal to Yemen's internationally recognized government take the fight to Houthi rebels. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) TANK DRIVER AND GOVERNMENT LOYALIST FIGHTER, FATHI AL-MUKHLAFI, SAYING: "The Houthis are trying to advance but we will break the siege and we will force out the invading Houthis with God's permission." The two sides have been fighting for weeks. Government loyalists are backed by a Saudi-led coalition which has bombed Yemen for months and helped to force the Houthis out of the second largest city of Aden. Houthis are backed by units in the Yemeni military who are loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Dozens have been killed in the fight in just the past few days.
