Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump takes aim at rivals saying, ''I never met people that can lie like these guys.'' Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump continues to target his rivals calling both Sen. Marco Rubio and Sen. Ted Cruz "liars" at a campaign event in Bretonville, Arkansas. "Frankly, Cruz is smarter than Rubio, intellectually he is smarter than Rubio," Trump said. "But both, they lie, you know I deal in the real estate business, I deal in a lot of different businesses, and I meet some bad people, I meet much tougher people than a Rubio or a Cruz," Trump said. "But I never met people that can lie like these guys," he said. "These guys are world class liars," Trump said. I was helped, in Cruz's case, because Rubio looked at him and said, 'You're a liar,' Trump said. "I've never seen a politicians call another politicians a liar, when he called him a liar, I said great, now I can call him a liar." "But Rubio is probably a worse liar than Cruz, I don't know who to pick," Trump said. "Just remember this," Trump said. "Politicians are never going to get you to the promised land, they are never ever going to get you to the promise land," Trump said. Trump's unorthodox candidacy has stirred controversy and shaken the Republican Party at its roots, but an increasing number of senior Republicans are becoming resigned to the idea he will be their candidate in November. Trump, 69, who has never held public office, has campaigned as a political outsider. He is riding a wave of voter anger at the slow economic recovery, illegal immigration and what he says is America's diminishing role in the world. The 11 Republican nominating contests on Tuesday have a total of almost 600 delegates at stake, and could set Trump up to clinch the presidential nomination. Reuters/Ipsos polling data on Friday showed Trump ahead nationally in the Republican race with support at 44.2 percent, followed by Cruz at 20.7 percent and Rubio in third place at 14 percent.
