Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan attends funeral services in Istanbul for victims of his country's coup attempt. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT - NATURAL (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan attended on Sunday (July 17) funeral services in Istanbul for victims of the violence in Friday night's coup attempt. Violence erupted in Turkey late on Friday when the military took to the streets in tanks and sent jets roaring overhead in Istanbul and Ankara to try to topple Erdogan. But the coup attempt crumbled as Erdogan rushed back to Istanbul from a Mediterranean holiday and urged people to take to the streets in support of his government against plotters he accused of trying to kill him. The failed coup attempt killed at least 265 people and raised expectations of a heavy crackdown on dissent. So far 6,000 people have been detained with more detentions expected, broadcaster NTV said on Sunday, citing Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag.
