Portions of aspiring first lady Melania Trump's speech at the Republican convention are strikingly similar to that of Michelle Obama's at the Democratic convention in 2008. Yiming Woo reports.
First Lady Michelle Obama said this at the Democratic National Convention in 2008, in support of her husband Barack Obama. (SOUNDBITE) (English) FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA, SAYING: "Because we want our children - and all children in this nation - to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work hard for them." There was a sense of deja vu during Monday night's speech by Melania Trump, wife of Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump. (SOUNDBITE) (English) REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE DONALD TRUMP'S WIFE, MELANIA TRUMP, SAYING: "Because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them." This is just one of a few sections of her speech that was strikingly similar to Michelle Obama's. But a Trump campaign official, while calling her speech a success, said her writers may have accidentally added some borrowed phrases.
