Government troops battle Houthi rebels south-west of the Yemeni city of Taiz. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
Street fighting in Yemen. The battle for control plays out on the streets as Government troops loyal to the internationally-backed President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi fight Shi'ite Houthi rebels south-east of the Yemeni city of Taiz. Saudi Arabia and its mostly Gulf Arab allies intervened in Yemen's civil war in March 2015 to restore President Hadi to power and fight off the Iran-allied Houthis. There is still no end to the fight. The conflict has already killed more than 6,500 people and unleashed a humanitarian crisis in one of the world's poorest countries.
