Paul Manafort resigned from the campaign of U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday, days after he was effectively demoted in a shake-up of the campaign leadership. Linda So reports.
Paul Manafort has resigned as Donald Trump's campaign chairman. His resignation comes just days after his demotion in a shake-up in leadership of the Republican presidential nominee's campaign. In a statement, Trump said he was appreciative for Manafort's work and called him a true professional. The news broke as the New York businessman touched down in Louisiana to tour the damage from severe flooding that has hit the state. This week, Trump's campaign brought on new leadership, hiring Breitbart executive Steve Bannon as campaign CEO and promoting well-known pollster Kellyanne Conway to campaign manager. Manafort has come under scrutiny in recent days for his alleged ties to a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine.
