On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump tapped the South Carolina Governor to lead the U.S. at the UN -- a new arena for Haley, amid uncertainty over America's international role under Trump. The 44-year-old daughter of Indian immigrants, represents what some Republicans hope could be the new face of their party: a younger, more diverse generation of leaders. Haley -- who backed Trump rival Sen. Marco Rubio in the Republican primary -- has already shown an understanding of diplomacy -- securing a nomination in the Trump Administration. During the presidential campaign, Haley took Trump strongly to task over his harsh rhetoric about illegal immigration and for not speaking forcefully enough against white supremacists.
