The House voted 227-198 to instruct committees to draft legislation by a target date of January 27 that would repeal the 2010 Affordable Health Care Act. Jillian Kitchener reports.
The process of dismantling Obamacare has begun. In a vote of 227-198, House Republicans voted to begin drafting legislation that would repeal the Affordable Health Care Act, by a target date of January 27. The Senate approved the same measure a day earlier. The repeal of President Obama's signature health law is a top priority for Republicans and for incoming President Donald Trump. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT-ELECT DONALD TRUMP SAYING: "Obamacare is the Democrats problem. We're going to take the problem off the shelves for them...." BUT Democrats argue getting rid of Obamacare without any clear plan to replace it would millions of Americans at risk... Republicans say they may phase in a replacement for Obamacare over 3 years. Once both chambers approve legislation to repeal it... Trump has said he will sign it as soon as he can.
