The world's largest beer festival kicks off with a traditional parade. Thousands of Oktoberfest visitors are in Munich to get a glimpse of brass bands and Bavarian costumes. SOUNDBITE: Gerhard Kuhn, visitor, saying (German): "I think, traditionally Oktoberfest has always had a fun atmosphere. And brass bands and a parade in traditional clothes are part of that." SOUNDBITE: Larissa Palamarchuk, visitor, saying (German): "I come here every year. No matter what the weather. And every year it's wonderful." In it's 182nd year, organizers in Munich expect more than six million people to attend this year's festival. They say last year, more than seven million litres of beer were consumed over the course of the two week party.
