U.S. nationals in Tokyo gather to protest President Trump's immigration policies
(ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION) Nearly 30 U.S. nationals residents in Tokyo gathered outside their embassy on Tuesday (January 31) to protest the executive order by President Donald Trump to restrict people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States. In his most sweeping decision since taking office a week ago, Trump, a Republican, put a four-month hold on allowing refugees into the United States and temporarily barred travelers from Syria and six other countries. Civil rights and faith groups, activists and Democratic politicians in the U.S. and abroad were furious and vowed to fight the order. Demonstrators said they would continue to resist what they consider the un-American actions of the current president even when they returned to the United States.
