ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing for more military spending in his proposed budget and he used his weekly address to garner support for it. He gave his weekly address recorded aboard the Gerald R. Ford, a new aircraft carrier he visited last week in Newport News, Virginia. Trump vowed to lift budget caps on military spending, saying, "My vision includes the elimination of the defense sequester, which has imposed steep cuts on our military." Trump this week proposed a $54 billion increase over last year in defense spending, boosting the Pentagon budget to $603 billion, and said he wanted to launch the biggest military buildup in American history to make up for what he called a depleted armed forces.
