Far-right leader Marine Le Pen conceded defeat Sunday to Emmanuel Macron while calling on patriots to join in a political fight. Rough Cut (no reporter narration).
ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) French voters elected centrist Emmanuel Macron on Sunday and his far-right National Front rival Marine Le Pen conceded defeat shortly after the first projections were published. Le Pen said the French people 'chose a new President of the Republic and voted for continuity.' Le Pen said she had congratulated Macron, but defiantly claimed the mantle of France's main opposition in calling on "all patriots to join us" in constituting a "new political force". Her deputy said this new force would not be called "National Front".
