The victims of what Turkey's military calls a "painful accident". Thirteen soldiers honoured at a ceremony in the Turkish town of Sirnak on Thursday (June 1) after dying in a helicopter crash on Wednesday (May 31) night. The army say the Cougar military helicopter got caught in a high-voltage power line. It had been taking off at around 10pm local time in the Senoba district of Sirnak province near the border with Iraq. Emergency search teams were dispatched to the area and evaluations were underway at the crash site, the military said. Presidential sources said President Tayyip Erdogan had been briefed on the crash.
