ROUGH CUT - NATURAL (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania on Monday (September 11) marked the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with a moment of silence at the White House.
The new president and his wife observed the moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York 13 years ago.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed that day when four jetliners were hijacked by militants from al Qaeda. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center's twin towers, another hijacked plane plowed into the Pentagon, and a fourth hijacked plane crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
