European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Monday (December 4) it was not possible to reach a complete agreement on a Brexit divorce deal, but added his talks with British Prime Minister Theresa May were "not a failure."
The head of the EU executive added that he was still confident that a deal could be reached before a summit of EU member states next week.
Despite significant progress during her visit to Brussels, May said that a couple of open issues remained.
May and Juncker spoke after government sources in Dublin said London had agreed to keep Northern Ireland 'aligned' to EU regulations to avoid a 'hard border' with the Irish Republic.
