Japan tackles suicide with community outreach

In reserved Japan, experts say that a new effort to give people a chance to express their innermost feelings has helped cut suicides by nearly 40 percent from a peak in 2003. At the forefront of this movement is Akita Prefecture, which used to have Japan's highest suicide rate but today is leading the rest of the country in reaching out to those at risk of taking their own lives.
